You may know someone, maybe someone in your family, or perhaps it is even yourself that has trouble getting up and down the stairs in their or your home, or maybe in your church or other places. This may be due to a handicap, old age, arthritis or any other symptom; whatever the case, you know they need some help getting up and down the stairs. Many people may not even know of a solution, but I am here to tell you about one of them.
One of the best options for getting up and down a set of stairs is by a device called a stair lift. There are many different types and brands of stair lifts, which will be covered in a different post, but they all serve a common purpose. A stair lift is a mechanical unit devised of a metal track and a chair. The track is usually made of high grade aluminum and attaches directly to the steps on the stairs, so there is no drilling in the wall. The chair rides this track up and down the stairs by either a cable system or a rack and pinion system. The track is custom cut for each stair case, and the track can usually be cut up to 24 feet. Most stair lifts today have many safety features built in, such as fail-safe mechanisms and safety sensors that prevent the stair lift from hitting anything in its path. There are also outdoor stair lifts that are made to withstand any harsh weather conditions, and perfect for outside steps for your home or social gathering area, such as outside a church. Most stair lifts, indoor and out, can come with call/send remotes which are ideal for multiple users.
Stair lifts offer a very safe and cost effective solution for people having trouble getting up and down their stairs. And if you want an extra smooth start/stop experience from the stair lift then consider what is called a DC stair lift, or a direct current stair lift, which has a battery backup system and can even continue running if the power ever goes out, so you are never stuck up or down the stairs. Some companies even offer very long warranties for worry-free operation, and peace of mind.
If you know someone that has trouble getting up and down their stairs, or are a victim yourself, then be aware that there is an affordable and safe solution. When out actually shopping for a stair lift, be sure to buy from a good company, and ask plenty of questions about the product you are buying to ensure you are getting what you need.
